We decided to do the 5 day Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu (as the Inka Trail was booked out!).
The trek ended up being pretty amazing, passing through a real variety of landscapes from the high mountains and glacial lakes to deep gorges and forests.
The trail we followed was made by the ancient Inkas and has been in use for centuries.
