After being stuck in Santiago for a week and a half with the flu, we were both glad to get out of the city and to the coast.
Pichilemu's a dusty little surf town with a chilled out pace that just so happens to be a short drive away from one of the best point breaks in South America.
Punta de Lobos is a pretty intimitading wave. To get to the line up you have to jump off the rocks, paddle to the big two rocks just off the point, climb up onto the rocks and repeat the process to get out the back.
The day we got there it was 6-8ft, having not surfed for 2 months and been a bit out of action in Sydney due to work commitments over the last year, I decided to go out the day after when it had dropped off a bit (aka wimped out!!). But when I went out the following day was glad of my decision, the waves are powerful in Chile!!!
Surfer in the photo is not me, this was from the bigger day (although apparently two days before was 15ft!!!!). Official trip photographer was in bed when I was surfing. Got some pretty sweet waves though, few hundred metre rides, yeeeewww!!!
Water was 13 degrees, took a couple of surfs to get used to but wasn't too bad once you're used to it. A decent wetsuit, hoodie, gloves and boots helps though!!

What a cool house.. love the pics.. just missing one with the hoods on :-) I bet the water is cold?
